Lewis County
The 444-mile Parkway follows one of the four oldest trails in North America from Nashville to Natchez, Mississippi, and is the seventh most visited National Park in the United States. Hohenwald is one of the towns closest to the Parkway.

Parkway Hosted Meriwether Lewis Commemoration
Over 1500 visitors traveled to the Meriwether Lewis Site, located on the Natchez Trace Parkway near Hohenwald, Tennessee, to pay tribute to Meriwether Lewis, co-captain of the Lewis and Clark Expedition.
Natchez Trace Compact
Hohenwald/Lewis County Chamber of Commerce membership as a corridor community in the Natchez Trace Compact allows information about our area to reach over 7 million subscribers through the website www.scenictrace.com and various other publications issued by the Compact.
Prehistoric Sites
Lewis County contains numerous prehistoric sites, some of which may be among the oldest in the Southeast. Archaeological digs have uncovered settlements with stone hearths and storage pits. No sites are open to the public at this time.
