Festivals and other events are great for tourism and the local economy. In 2013, as a result of taxes generated by tourism in Lewis County, each household paid $126.74 less in local and state taxes. Some of our most popular events include:
Hohenwald Springfest - first weekend in May
Find crafts, treasures, vintage goods, food, drawings throughout both days and more at the annual Hohenwald Springfest sponsored by Friends of the Library to benefit the Lewis County Public Library's Summer Reading Program.
Friday Night Block Parties--second Friday May through September
Through the partnership of Hohenwald/Lewis County Chamber of Commerce and City of Hohenwald, the second Friday night of each month May through September, find free music entertainment in the City Parking Lot, corner of E. Linden and N. Maple Sts., in downtown Hohenwald. Performances are scheduled 7:30-9:30pm. Come out, bring your own chairs and have a great time at the free events. Click on the calendar tab of our website for dates and scheduled performers.
Oktober Heritage Festival - second weekend in October
Lewis County attracts thousands of visitors to the downtown Oktober Heritage Festival the second weekend in October each year. It is also a great time for homecomings of former residents. Arts, crafts, food and entertainment are just a few of the attractions. Kids' Corner with bounce houses and other attractions for children is a very popular area. Oktober Heritage Festival takes place on the City Parking Lot located on the corner of N. Maple St. and E. Linden Ave. The Annual Fall Classics Car and Truck Show takes place on Saturday during the event on Lewis County Courthouse lawn diagonally across street from Festival area. Something for everyone!
